Deli meat

This story is not as amusing, but I’ve been waiting patiently for several years for a chance to reuse the ‘deli meat’ label. By now, you’re probably wondering, “Who is this Robert Gavin? How is he getting all of these scoops?” I’m afraid it’s simply because so many of the other reporters have been laid off.

ALBANY — A man and woman who tried to steal $30 worth of cold cuts from Price Chopper in Westgate Plaza were arrested after they scuffled with security guards and the woman used pepper spray, police said.

Meyoshi Henderson, 35, and Dave Carrette, 31, had not paid for the meat when they three guards stopped them in the parking lot on Thursday about 1:30 p.m.

Police said Carrette started to punch two of the guards to allow Henderson to escape when she sprayed the three guards in the face with the pepper spray. The pair got away but were arrested on Watervliet Avenue by Albany police.

Both were charged with second-degree robbery and assault. Henderson was also charged with resisting arrest for allegedly pushing and shoving police as they handcuffed her.

Both are being held in the Albany County jail without bail following arraignments in City Court.

The three guards were treated at Albany Memorial Hospital. No serious injuries were reported.
