Gosh, there’s something about Killdozer. Kind of a bad taste in my mouth, kind of not, but moreso bad. I saw em once and they played a popular Elvis Presley song. Think they played with My Dad is Dead It was at that bar on Forbes Ave in Pgh. 2 or 3 blocks west of the O hotdog Place. Saw a bunch of bands there, Ed’s redeeming qualities. Wimps opened for Sebadoh. The name of the place changed to the Attic, but that was later on. Do you remember the name jack? On the 2nd or third floor. All black inside. the name may come to me, Before they had bands, it was a disko, and once got loaded on Ouzo with some classmates, dancing stupid. Ian Svenosis and his band from DC played there, Noah Bushmen those guys played, the Year Zero, there was a weeird buzz about that band. It was a dump, but I always had a good time at that place. yeah, the killdozer was hunka hunka Burning Love. The Upstage??

It’s been a number of years where I’ve pondered the name of that Club, and it took writing a knucklehead comment like I did above, to think through it, put words onto the page, to finally have the name of it dawn on me by the time I finished writing. The Upstage! What bands do you remember seeing at the Beehive? Maybe we were at the same shows!

Eugene Chadbourne was one of the ‘musicians’ who actually performed in the movie theater section, not upstairs. Neat guy, but to borrow a Salt in Woundism – overrated.

Then you probably remember the original Beehive on the South Side, lots of good times there, remember a couple of bands, Funk Music rings a bell, and I was a jaded indie rocker, so didn’t pay a lot of attention. Cool background music though for playing cards, chess, and backgammon. You remember that back wall mural? The coffee cup? I think the rumor was that the artist knew Keith Haring. Gawd, wasn’t he the style of the times.
