I wrote the lead story in today’s Jersey City Independent. It deals with a new documentary made by 17 kids and teens in the Friends of the Lifers Youth Corp in Greenville, Jersey City. They hope to turn their neighborhood around.

These Friends of Lifers things can make a difference. Lately, I’ve gotten to know someone who was kicked out of h.s. and had to spend 2 years in a delinquent rehab program. Got his GED, got his B.A., making over a 100 grand now, and this weekend is leaving for a week-long camping trip to Yosemite. I’m slightly jealous of the bastard.
